Auction 48
Lot 171:
1. Chotem HaMelech Shlomo—according to legend, the seal of King Solomon was made with geometric shapes drawn from kabbalah and mysticism, with angelic names. It had a segula to bring the bearer blessings and success. This is a stone tablet with an amulet in the center: 9.5×9.5cm.
2. A ceramic plate with spells, inscriptions of verses from LaMenatze’ach B’Neginot using acronyms. Diameter: 25cm.
3. The “Hodhod” amulet bearing the hoopoe bird, for a variety of purposes, mainly to save the bearer from judgments and to confuse judges. There are many testimonials about cases in which people accused of serious crimes escaped with light punishments after carrying this amulet in their pockets. Its use in Judaism is clouded and unclear. Given inside a green cloth case.
