Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Shmuel Binyamin Sofer. Begins in the middle of the middle, such that we cannot know to whom the letter was addressed or why the rabbi was writing. It is on a halachic pilpul regarding the impurity of Nida relating to Hargasha and hachzakat tahara. The content testifies to the rabbi’s comprehensive Torah knowledge. The content is on both sides of the page, and ends with a humble conclusion.
Stains, slight tear to the bottom, no missing text. 22.5x21cm. Overall good condition.
Rabbi Shmuel Binyamin Sofer (1873-1943) was the son of Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer. He was a student of the Shabas, son-in-law of Rabbi Shraga Feivel Folk of Zanta. In 1902 he was appointed Rabbi of Derchka in place of his brother, Rabbi Yosef Leib. In 1918 he moved to the Rabbainte of Zenta, and in 1933 to Paksh. His son was Rabbi Simcha Bonem David of Jerusalem. He wrote Divrei Sofrim.
