Typewritten letter on official letterhead of the Ohel Moshe yeshiva, from the 4th of Av 1948, addressed to Mohar Aharon Hirsch Mauskopf of Philadelphia, expressing his condolences upon the death of Mrs. Mirel bar Leib Bodek, and notifying him that the yeshiva chose one of its rabbis to say kaddish throughout the year and to study mishnayot in her memory, and he adds that he will write her name in the memory book and preserve her yahrzeit every year. Two gabbayim are signed at the bottom, as well as the very profusive signature of Zelig Reuven Bengis, and the faded stamp of the institution.

Size: 21x28cm. Folding creases, light tears at the margins, overall good condition.

Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis (1864-1953) served as rabbi in Belarus and then as Ga’avad of the Charedi community in Jerusalem. He authored LiPalgut Reuven. Among his students were Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach and Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv.
