Typewritten certificate of inheritance on official paper of the Jerusalem District Rabbinical Court, from the 9th of Iyar 1965. The signed dayanim certified the inheritance of an anonymous woman, signed: “Eliezer Yehuda Waldenberg”, “Ovadya Yosef”, “Yosef Kapach”. Stamp of the beit din with the secretary’s signature. 22×27.5cm. Filing holes, creases.


Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Waldenberg (1916-2007), author of the responsa Tzitz Eliezer, Shvitat Hayam [the laws of travelling by ship on shabbat] and Hilchot Medina, one of the foremost poskim of the previous generation, known primarily due to his responsa and extensive knowledge about halacha and medicine. He was a member of the great rabbinic court, received the Israel Prize for religious literature and the Rav Kook Prize.

Rabbi Ovadya Yosef (1921-2014) was a sage of the Sefardi people and an incredible posek, who served as Chief Sefardi Rabbi of Israel from 1973-1983 and was the spiritual leader of Shas since its founding.

Rabbi Yosef Kapach (1918-2000) was a Yemenite-Israeli posek, a member of the Supreme Rabbinical Court and a member of the Council of Torah Sages. He was a translator and commentator and preacher of the Rambam’s writers and dozens of books by rishonim of Spain and Yemen, with great influence over the Yemenite community in Israel.
