Buyer's premium:

Letter on official letterhead, handwritten and signed by the Admor Ben Zion Yehuda Leib Twersky of Hornosteipel, when he lived in Chicago. No year noted, addressed to his sons.

The content is thrilling and testifies to the fact that it was written during the war: “I feel, Baruch hashem, good and healthy, it is surprising I have not received from them this letter…from my wife I receive horrible letters sent to her from Antwerp, there are no Jews there. Until now to receive a visa to America is difficult. May Hashem have mercy on us. From my daughter I received a letter that she received a telegram that Yeshaya’le had a connection tna’im to a young girl, my daughter writes that she doesn’t know who she is, and asks that I write her what they are supposed to write in it…please write longer and more regularly, your father looking for Hashem’s yeshua soon, Ben Zion Yehuda Leib.”

21.5x28cm. Lone stains, creases, overall good condition.

Rabbi Ben Zion Yehuda Leib Twersky (1868-1951) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Hornosteipel, and son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzhak Yoel of Kontikoziva (grandson of the Tshu’at Chen). When his father died on the 22nd of Elul 1903 he succeeded him. In 1939 he travelled to Antwerp and the war broke out. He went to the US and settled in Chicago until his death in 1951.
