Lot 123:
Letter signed by Rabbi Isser Zalman Melzer, head of the Etz Haim yeshiva and author of the work Even HaAzal, to rabbis of the American Rabbinical Council. He requests that they give the Shaagas Aryeh yeshiva a recommendation letter that they can submit to donors in the United States.
The letter was written on a typewriter with the additional handwritten words (by the rabbi) “signed with respect and admiration” and the handwritten signature of the rabbi.

Rabbi Isser Zalman Melzer (the Even HaAzal) (1870-1954) was the rabbi of Slotzk, head of the Council of Torah Sages in Israel and the head of the Etz Haim yeshiva in Jerusalem. He wrote the Even HaAzal on the Rambam, read widely across the Jewish people.
