Lot 012:
Birkat Avot, “a few pshats and remazim which Hashem has given me…to offer on Mili d’Avot (Pirkei Avot with HaPnim), I the small and young Yosef Haim…”. Chiddushim on Masechet Avot by Maran Rabbeinu Yosef Haim of Baghdad, the Ben Ish Hai, published when he was only 30 years old, among his first works. First edition. Partially missing copy: 82 leaves in the original, this copy is missing the last two leaves and leaf 80 is defective with missing text. 18cm. A few stains, otherwise overall good condition.
Signature of ownership: “Shimon Javy s”t”. His grave on Mt. of Olives in Jerusalem has written: “The dayan chacham sofer and grammarian tzaddik, the wonderful yira elokim with many students of geonim and tzaddikim, avinu and sabinu hayakar Rabbi Shimon Javy bar Teite died at an old age and in peace, on the 6th of Tammuz 1987.”
