Rabbi Avraham Amram HaLevi Qoch (1935-2016) was the son of Rabbi Shlomo. He was revered by Jews throughout northern Israel and particularly in Haifa. He was particularly famous given that his only official position was that of Ram at the yeshiva for youth there, he never tried to make himself more famous sand even tried to remain modest and reject any sort of approbation. Many families considered themselves orphaned after his death. He was father-in-law (first marriage) of the gaon Rabbi Mordechai Lieber Kohen. the Admor Rabbi David Abuhatzira passed randomly by his house and said without knowing its occupant that “Kedusha Yetera resides here”. He worked for the sanctity of Shabbos, including the complete end of work in the Haifa port on a practical (unofficial) basis. He founded the Bein HaZmanim yeshiva in Haifa, now named after him. He founded the Kupat HaKahal for Haifa poor. His booklets Ma’ayan Avraham, which were published after his death, were widely accepted and testify to his Torah greatness.
