Lot 170:
“And if so, according to this situation, he would prefer that nothing more would be created”—a sharp letter of criticism of the Vaad Shechita of the Eida Charedit by Rabbi Yitzhak Yerucham Diskin, an important Jerusalem rabbi. He was effectively the Rabbi of Jerusalem after the death of Rabbi Shmuel Salant and he was the son of the Maharil Diskin. The letter is addressed to members of the Ashkenazi Vaad with protest against their activity, including the recommendation to cancel the Vaad entirely.
Official letterhead, 15.5x22cm. Stains, good condition.
Rabbi Yitzhak Yerucham Diskin (1839-1925) was the son of Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Diskin, the Maharil Diskin. He studied under his father, and there is a story that already at age 9 “he knew all of the difficult sugiyot of Shas”. He was an important rabbi of Jerusalem.
