Wonderful engraving colored in by hand, showing two rabbis testing a student, who is fairly embarrassed and tries to get from his memory the correct answer in the face of their expectant gaze. [Some have said that the engraving describes a rebuke to a naughty student, and he looks down in embarrassment, one rabbi holds his hand for encouragement and the other serves as the bad cop]. Pretty work done based on the famous picture by Isidore Kaufman. Hard cardboard, no frame. Excellent condition. 43x60cm.
