Letter handwritten and signed by the Rebbetzin Chana bat Admor Rabbi Meir Moskowitz of Shatz, descendant of the Admor Rabbi Meir of Przmyslan, and wife of the Admor Rabbi Eliezer Lifa Bindiger, Av Beit Din of Moldovitza and sister-in-law of Admor Rabbi Shalom of Shatz and London, son of Rabbi Mordechai Yosef. See Encyclopedia of Romanian Jewry, p. 194, 196, 338. In Yiddish,
from Wednesday of Parshat Vayechi, Shatz (probably written after the war, close to her husband’s death in 1945). Addressed to Rabbi Avraham Moshe Babad, Av Beit Din of Gura-Homora. At the beginning she writes that it is difficult for her to write: “you for sure knew my husband, the departed Rabbi Eliezer Lifa Bundiger of Russia…” and she expands to talk about the relationship he had with her late husband, and asks in the name of their friendship to help her in her recent widowhood.
She further notes in her grief that in Shatz unfortunately there is no supervision of her by any person and no one is interested in her, and concludes with a prayer that Hashem help her overcome the difficult time. At the end she extends a message to his wife with longing for her.
