Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Ben Zion Leib Twersky, son of Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Hornosteipel. Sent to his sons who probably were not in the United States then. He writes: “May Hashem have mercy that you may be able to come here in peace”. On blank letterhead. 27.5×22.5cm. Light folding creases, very good condition.

Rabbi Ben Zion Yehuda Leib Twersky (1868-1951) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Hornosteipel, and son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzhak Yoel of Kontikoziva (grandson of the Tshu’at Chen). When his father died on the 22nd of Elul 1903 he succeeded him. In 1939 he travelled to Antwerp and the war broke out. He went to the US and settled in Chicago until his death in 1951.
