Chiddushei Mahartza on the halachot of Chanukah by the Admor Rabbi Zvi Elimelech Shapira of Dinov, the Bnei Issachar (a Chassidic gadol), published by his grandson Rabbi Moshe Shapira of Przmyslan. The National Library catalogues it in the Rare Books section. [3], 39 leaves. Light tears and folds at the edges of a number of pages. Paper a little brittle. Otherwise very good condition.


The title page has a signature of Rabbi Natan Eliyahu Orenstein, rabbi in Devliya who perished at Auschwitz in 1944. He was the son of Rabbi Haim Avraham Orenstein, the Av Beit Din in Krestir (who corresponded on responsa with geonim of his generation and died in 1880).

Rabbi Zvi Elimelech of Dinov (1783-1841), one of the great chassidic leaders, known primarily by the title the Bnei Yisaschar after the name of his books that are known for their holiness and were especially beloved by the great chassidic leaders of all the generations. In addition, he wrote a large range of books on all disciplines of the Torah – Igra D’Pirka, Derech Pikudecha, Ma’ayan Ganim and others.
