Buyer's premium:

A sharp letter of protest in which the Steipler criticizes those who attacked the honor of the gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Yaakov Weiss (the Minchat Yitzhak), Ga’avad of the Eida Charedit, “and hereby a voice went forth which expressed contempt for the gaon…and attacked his honor for various things which ought never be written…we hereby protest in every possible way, may Hashem defend his fortress.”

This original letter was published at the time and caused serious ripples throughout the public. It is written entirely by hand and signed by the Steipler and features his stamp at the top of the page, “Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky, Bnei Brak, Chazon Ish neighborhood”, and the handwritten signature of Maran Rabbi Eliezer Menachem Shach, author of the Avi Ezeri and head of the Ponevezh yeshiv, as well as his stamp.

This protest letter was released during a serious controversy between the Eida Charedit and the Machzikei HaDas (Belz) community, which rocked the Charedi world until both communities managed to establish themselves, each in their own communities.

Notebook page, 16x17cm. Very good condition.
