Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Shabtai Yagel, head of the Slonim yeshiva and member of the Council of Torah Sages, to Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac HaLevi Herzog, Chief Rabbi of Israel. He blesses the chief rabbi for his 60th birthday in the name of the Slonim yeshiva (in Ramat Gan). “May Hashem lengthen your years in Torah and Gedulah and Yeker to stand and serve our nation, their Torah, and our Land.”

Rabbi Shabtai Yagel (1875-1958) was the head of the Slonim yeshiva in Lithuania and then in Israel. He was called many times to asefus with Rabbi Haim Ozer and he was his right-hand man in many ways. At the beginning of World War II he escaped to Israel, settled in Ramat Gan, and established the Slonim yeshiva there, and he taught there until his death. In Israel he was revered by the gedolei hador and he signed psaks with the Rabbi of Chevin and Rabbi of Brisk.
