Sefer Toldot Aharon, marei mekomot of the Talmud Bavli for the Five Books of Torah, by Rabbi Aharon of Pizzaro, with the work Toldot Yaakov at the end, a marei mekomot of the Yerushalmi for the Five Books of Torah by Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas. Toldot Aharon was printed a number of times and has accompanied the Chumash for hundreds of years, but this was the first publication to include the Yerushalmi’s parallel by Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas. This is the only such release of its kind. Original binding from the period, pretty condition. This item is in wonderful condition, complete and rare. 192, 32 leaves. 17.5cm. Very good condition, lone moth holes on a few pages. Taped tear on the title page without missing text.
Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas (1610-1698) was the author of Shut Ohel Yaakov and was the Rosh Yeshiva of Etz Hayyim in Amsterdam. He fought the Shabtai movement strongly, published Tzitzat Novel Zvi against him, and did not cease until he managed to turn all of the Jewish sages and the Jewish people against the false messiah.
