Handwritten leaf written on both sides, autograph with chiddushei Torah handwritten by Rabbi Haim Betzalel Panet, Av Beit Din of Toshnad, eldest son of Admor Rabbi Yehezkel Panet (the Mareh Yehezkel) and student of the Chatam Sofer. 19×23.5cm. Thick, high-quality paper. Written in a crowded manner on both sides. Small tears and folds in the margins.

Rabbi Haim Betzalel Panet (1803-1874) was the eldest son of Admor Rabbi Yehezkel Panet (the Mareh Yehezkel), who was the Av Beit Din of Karlsburg and the brother of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Panet, the first Admor of Desh. At age 12 he was accepted into the yeshiva of the Chatam Sofer in Pressburg, who was very close with him and would prepare his shiurim together with him. When he was still a young man he was accepted to serve as a rabbi in Romania, with the blessing of Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum (the Yismach Moshe).It is said that the Chozeh of Lublin said of him as a child: “This boy will light up the eyes of chachamim.” He sat for more than 40 years at the head of the rabbainte of Toshnad and Transylvania, but he refused to be labelled Admor. He was a frequent writer of responsa, and his tshuvot are in a variety of Shut books. He wrote Derech Yivchar (Shut and chiddushim on Shas), Otzer Hayyim (on parshiyot of the Torah), Otzer Hayyim on Tehillim, Dabrut Esh (droshim), Yam HaNivchar (on Masechet Gittin) and Yam HaRachav (on Masechet Chulin).
