Sefer Mishpat Katuv, a halachic work which functions as a kind of summary of the work Birchei Yosef by HaHida, by Rabbi Avraham Pinso. First edition from the author’s lifetime. [2], 113 leaves. No binding, moth holes, light tears, otherwise overall good condition.

The first page has a handwritten signature in Sefardi handwriting: “the young Shaul Adadi s”t”. The body of the work has notes handwritten, including long and significant ones. A few notes are signed “Ish Tza’ir”, these notes mainly deal with the works of HaHida and display his deep familiarity with the latter’s writings. The notes form the work by the owner of this work, which has seemingly never been printed but remains in this manuscript form.

Rabbi Shaul Ovadiya Adadi of Tripoli (died 1919) was the son of Rabbi Avraham Hai (the Vayikra Avraham). He served as rabbi and dayan in Tripoli, succeeding his father who immigrated to Tzfat, together with Rabbi Avraham Haviv and Rabbi Refael Davush. He founded the Yagdil Torah yeshiva with his friends: Rabbi Nachum, Rabbi Zion Tzror, and Rabbi M’ Ganach. Apart from these notes, he wrote an introduction to his father’s work (the Vayikra Avraham). He worked to print a siddur “Se’u Mincha”, printed in Djerba in 1915, and wrote piyyutim which remain in manuscript. See Arzei HaLevanon 1999.
