Handsome copy of the Book of Psalms, translated and with exegesis by Rabbi Shimshon Refael Hirsch of Adat Yeshurun. Two sections form the book. Each section has two title pages in Hebrew and German, the translation appears alongside the original text, with the commentary below them. [3], 380, [1], [2], 367, [1], ix pages. A few light stains, a well-preserved copy in excellent condition.

The title page has the note of ownership: “Yosef ben Naftali Erlinger.” 

Rabbi Yosef Erlinger (1926-2020) was the son of Naftali of Switzerland. His father hosted the Gra’il Steinman when he was a young man together with Rabbi Moshe Soloveitchik when they had escaped the Shoah. He became close with his son Rabbi Yosef, and after his wedding the Gra’il rented him an apartment in Lugano. They remained in close contact until they passed away.
