Lot 087:
Small Megillat Esther on parchment, work by a sofer in the Ashkenazi (Ari) script. Uniform writing throughout. The last column is a later addition but matches the period.
Very interesting: the writing follows the Kabbalistic tradition (usually seen in Chassidic megillot) of placing emphasis on holy names. As is known, the Megillah doesn’t have any holy names and in this version, verses are bolded so as to have letters form the Holy Name using first or last letters which are made larger. Regarding the bolding of holy names, see the Siddur Geonim v’HaMekubalim [Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock, Jerusalem 1881, Volume 17].
Height of the parchment: 24cm. Height of the writing: 19.5cm. 42 lines per column. Faded writing, stains and wear, not sold as kosher.
