Chiddushei Torah handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu David Rabinowitz Teumim, the Aderet. A page cutting written in pencil “on the subject of the time for saying Kriyat Shma, I came up with something new…and now I have acquired an old Magen Avraham and [?] on the issue…”. He quotes from a note of the Gra’s handwritten in the margins of the Magen Avraham regarding the time for Kriyat Shma. On the back are chiddushei Torah relating to the Yerushalmi on a kasha of some kind, at the end he wrotes: “I saw fit to write this to myself as a reminder—words of the writer, Eliyahu David ben HaRav Teumim of Ponevezh, read and written Aderet MiPaz, bs”d, Vayera 1969. 13.5×7.5cm. Folding creases, stains, overall good condition.

Rabbi Eliyahu David Rabinowitz Teumim (1845-1905) was the rabbi of Ponevezh and Mir (Lithuania) and late in late was asked by Rabbi Shmuel Salant to serve as Rabbi of Jerusalem. He was the father-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak HaKohen Kook, and for dozens of years he would wear small tefillin all day. He wrote more than 120 books, only two of which were printed during his lifetime. The others have been brought to late in the recent years.
