Auction 35
Lot 054:
Large parchment scroll which is very beautifully made with “Perek Shira” in sofer script, large and beautifully rendered, on white, high-quality parchment, Ashkenazi (Beit Yosef) style. The title column is illustrated with colorful flowers and the gilded inscription “Perek Shira”. The beginning of each chapter has a title bearing the name of the chapter in large letters decorated colorfully (so too with the opening words). The color that is chosen for each chapter matches the characteristics of the chapter—so for example, chapter three, which begins “trees and grasses”, is adorned in green, while the first chapter on “the sky and water” is in blue.
11 pieces of parchment, total length: 9.31m. Height of the parchment: 32cm. Height of the writing: 19cm. 11 lines per column, each line is approximately 1cm.
