Pamphlet “HaHitpa’alut”, a Chabad Chassidic work by the Middle Admor, Rabbi Dov Beer ben Admor HaTanya. Pages 51-80, with a separate title page entitled “Katan Me’inyanei Bechira”. Printed mostly line-by-line in the same manner but with different pagination from the Koenigsberg edition (1850 approx), without the words of the publisher and the “Moda’ah.” Also removed are the table of errors and the errors have been corrected inside. 80 pages. No binding, pages detached, a few moth holes, overall fair to good condition.
Title pages have the stamp: “Shlomo Yehuda Leib Eliezerov in Hevron” with a stamp in watercolors: Shi”l.
Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Leib of Hevron (1863-1942) was the son of Rabbi Eliezer Shimon Kazarnoves, an ancestor of Menucha Rachel Slonim of Hevron. He was the son-in-law of Rabbi Dov Beer HaLevi Ashkenazi of Klisk (the “Chozer” of the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch). In 1873 he moved with his parents to Hevron, where he studied under Rabbi Shimon Menashe Chaikin and Rabbi Eliyahu Mani. He was a rabbi of Hevron, an went to Mizrachi countries as well. In the end he was accepted as Rabbi of Samarkand (his original family name was Kazarnovsky, he changed it in Bukhara to Eliezerov—Eliezer’s son). His brother in law was Rabbi Menachem Mendel Na’eh (they married two sisters).
