Shut of Rabbeinu Asher ben Yehiel, the Rosh, with endorsements from Rabbi Yitzhak Elchanan of Kovna, Rabbi Yosef Refael of Vilna, the Natziv of Volozhin, and more. According to the title page this is the 5th edition. Xii, 208 pages. Tape around the cover page and additional pages, stains, light tears, lone moth holes, defects to the binding, overall good condition.

The title page has the note of ownership: “Shaul Moshe Zilberman of Wiershov, Ra’avad here in Lodz.” Stamp: “Avraham M. Alter Jerusalem, Elfanderi Street.” The copy is also decorated with many notes and chiddushim handwritten by Rabbi Shaul Moshe Zilberman (the above), some long and significant.

Rabbi Shaul Moshe Zilberman (1850-1939) was the son of Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac, he was a rabbi and rosh yeshiva in Poland, studied under Chassidic sages of the time including the Avnei Nezer and the Gaon of Kotna. He served in the rabbinate of a number of cities, and when he moved to Israel he settled in Tel Aviv and served as the rabbi of Chassidei Gur in Israel. He authored Chiddushei Shaul Moshe, Pardes Shaul.

Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Alter, son of Rabbi Moshe Betzalel Alter, brother of the Imrei Emet of Gur, was the son-in-law of Rabbi Shaul Moshe Zilberman, and later became the father-in-law of Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter, the Pnei Menachem of Gur.
