Lot 144:
Large collection of segulot from various places, including the Pirkus book from Rabbeinu Hai Gaon, and one handwritten by Rav Yitzhak of Letetchov, who was in the Ba’al Shem Tov’s generation, by Rabbi Yehoshua Yonatan Rubenstein, printed by Yehuda and Yerushalayim in Jerusalem, 1930. Endorsement of Rabbi Yosef Haim Zonenfeld, Rabbi of Jerusalem, and more. Includes a folded page taped in the center of the book with “Fortunes” (small tear on this page). Title page has the author’s dedication handwritten and signed. [8], 118 leaves [table]. Stains and signs of moisture, a little mold on the last pages. Binding, title page, and additional pages are detached. Overall fair to good condition. The author Rabbi Yehoshua Yonatan Rubinstein was a student of Rabbeinu Aharon Rata (the Shomer Emunim), a tzaddik of Jerusalem. He was famous for wearing shrouds after going to the mikveh on Erev Shabbos, with his Shabbos clothes on top, and for going to the markets between the “Mazhirei Shabbat” and notifying them to close stores. According to him, he was wearing the funeral shrouds in case anyone rose up in anger and killed him, so he would be ready for burial immediately since it would be Erev Shabbos. He was the father of Rabbi Haim David Rubinstein and the Breslev chassid Rabbi Mordechai Elazar Rubinstein. See more about him in Tzintzenet HaMan on the Rahak of Belz, Section 3, pages 299-302.
