He was a great scholar and even corresponded with the "Sdei Hemed" in halacha, wrote a gloss for Shulchan Aruch HaRav, printed only after his death, was a follower of the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch and appears several times in the writings of the High Court as one of his father’s followers – the Lubavitcher Rabbi Rashab. Rabbi Yitzchak Shlomo Silberman (1929-2001) was the father of the "Silberman Method" known for studying Torah, a method based on the Sages’ words in the tractate Avot whereby children entering Haider learn the entire Bible first, and then all six sidrei Mishnah, with emphasis on memorization, and only then does the Gemara study begin. He saw himself as a follower of the Vilna Gaon and saw his method as the implementation of it. He also practically applied his halakhic rulings, and even established a community that walks in his ways, studying and teaching Kabbalah, according to the way of the Gra and the Ramchal. Along with Rabbi Haim Friedlander, Rabbi Joel Kloft and others and even participated in a group that studied and printed their Kabbalistic writings, some from manuscripts. He was one of the first to start wearing a tekhelet thread in their tzitzit, taken from the hilazon snail, and published the matter, and he used to wear tefillin all day and his students do as well.
