Rabbi Eliyahu Bambagi Ma’aravi ben Moshe (1873-1955) was born in Damascus and moved to Israel. Under the influence of his rabbi, Rabbi Haim Shaul Davich HaKohen, he left his tailoring business (which he did as a livelihood) and focused only on Torah study at the yeshiva “Rehovot HaNahar”.
