The book Toldot Adam, two parts, a summary of the laws from the Even Ha’Ezer section of the Shulchan Aruch by Rabbi Yitzchak Izaak Shor, rabbi of Bucharest. Part two with an additional title page – rate, bibliographically unknown. The National Library database states that part two was printed in Jasi, whereas in the copy before us both parts were printed in Zolkiew. First edition in the printing press of Rabbi Shmuel Pinchal Shtiller, 1873. Interesting and important stamps. One ownership stamp; Avraham Moshe Bavad rabbi of Gibli [Givat Aliya – Jaffa] previously av beit din of Guruhomara [Gura Humorului – Romania] Briceni.” Additional stamps of his from the time he was rabbi of Gura Humorului. An additional stamp of “Tefillat Beit Yeshurun” in Hebrew and Latin letters. On the last leaf there is an ownership inscription in the handwriting of the owner of the stamps, Rabbi Avraham Moshe Bavad dated 18th Kislev 1948. An additional signature David Arieh …[?]. Without page numbers. Slight tears at some of the page edges, stains, rebound, good overall condition. Rabbi Avraham Moshe Bavad (1900-1980), son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Bavad of Gura Humorului, a chassidic rabbi and rosh yeshiva in Bucovina and in Israel. The foremost disciple of Rabbi Meir Arik of Tarnow, succeeded his father as rabbi of Gura Humorului. After the war he attempted to immigrate to Israel in 1948 but was exiled to Cyprus, where he served as the rabbi of the internment camp. After immigrating to Israel he had a close relationship with the Chazon Ish. In 1958 he was appointed as rosh yeshiva of the Yachel Yisrael yeshiva that was led by his step-brother-in-law (as he was the son-in-law of the stepdaughter of the Rebbe Rabbi Yisrael Hager, author of the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz), the Rebbe Rabbi Baruch Hager.
