Lot 047:
A set of five volumes of the book Akeidat Yitzchak on the Torah and the five megillot by Rabbi Yitzchak Arama. On the title page: “This lofty book was printed many times in different countries, but this new edition supersedes them all, both in its form and its material. In its form, because we obtained top-quality paper and nice letters as the reader will see. Due to its material because (a) we added the author’s book Chazut Kashe to this work. (b) We worked hard…to remove all of the errors…” and other additions as can be seen from the title page. Printed in Pressburg. 1849. Original paper wrapped bindings with individual storage containers. Ownership signature in the first volume: “Shmuel… [?] Aharon Zeligman,” and an additional inscription in Latin letters. Without blemishes, a magnificent copy in good condition. Rabbi Yitzchak Arama (1420 – 1494), known as the Baal Ha’Akeida after the name of this book, one of the Spanish sages at the time of the Expulsion from Spain. Rabbi and rosh yeshiva in Zamora, northern Spain and rabbi of the city of Tarragona in south Catalonia.
