The book of responsa from Rabbi David son of Zimra (the Ridbaz), two parts, separate title pages for each part. With answers to words of the Rambam. Venice, 1749. [2], 129 leaves. [2], 88 leaves with the indexes. Comments in ancient Sephardi handwriting in the page margins. Thick and high-quality paper, new leather binding with gold embossing, slight stains, water stains, otherwise in very good condition, a magnificent copy in excellent condition. This book was published by Rabbi David Ashkenazi, the emissary for Jerusalem to Italy, son of the author of Eshel Avraham, author of a commentary on the Zohar. He published it from a manuscript of the Ridbaz that had previously been hidden. The publisher received approbations from the foremost rabbis of Jerusalem, Venice and Livorno, with a license from the rabbis of Venice. Rabbi David son of Zimra – the Ridbaz (1479-1575), rabbi of the city of Safed, rabbi of the Ari and of Rabbi Bezalel Ashkenazi author of the Shita Mekubetzet.
