The book She’elot U’Teshuvot Halachot Ketanot, two parts: part one, 295 responsa, part two, 314 responsa, and at the end a booklet about gittin, by Rabbi Yaakov Chagiz – first edition, Venice, 1704. [3], 71, [6] leaves. The title page and three leaves of the indexes at the end are missing. Stains and worming holes. Simple binding, detached and faded. Good – moderate overall condition. The author, Rabbi Yaakov Chagiz (1620-1674), a descendant of the cream of the expellees from Spain. At the age of twenty he immigrated to Israel and was appointed as rosh yeshiva of the Beit Yaakov yeshiva. Son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Galanti (Hamagen). Wrote Etz Chaim on the Mishna and other works. The Chida mentions him in his books with admiration and great honor.
