A disciple of the Ba’al Shem Tov, one of the chief opponents of the students of Jacob Frank who were active throughout Galicia during his life. In the letter of Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Bolechov he relates that even though the Frankists used to write their letters in code to prevent their words from being understood, the author managed to reveal the code, thereby exposing their misdemeanors. In Rabbi Yoseph Shaul Nathanson’s approbation to this book he notes that the author won in a scholarly debate with the Sha’agat Arieh who was considered the foremost scholar of his time.
