The book Be’er Avraham, a commentary on the Tikkunei Zohar in a chassidic approach by Rabbi Avraham Avli of Drohobych, one of the foremost disciples of the Chozeh of Lublin. An important and rare segulah book [see below], [for more information see Bsha’arei Sefer, N. Ben Menachem, pp. 67-70] – first edition Lemberg 1868. [4], 56 leaves. Stefansky Chassidut, no. 71. Slight tears, stains, worming holes and various pastings in several places with slight damage to the text. Moderate overall condition. Simple cardboard binding with blemishes. Segulah book – the book has enthusiastic approbations from the foremost chassidic leaders of the time it was printed, including Rabbi Yoseph Shaul Nathanson, Rabbi Sender Lipa son of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaak of Zidichov, Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam of Shinova and others, in which they talk at length about the sanctity of the author and of this book. Especially noteworthy is the approbation of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaak of Komarno the author of Heichalei Habracha who writes: “It is truly possible for this holy man to write the truths of the Torah…and it is a wonderful work…it would be impossible to write such a holy work had the Divine Presence not rested upon him…words of truth, wonder of wonders through ruach hakodesh. I ask that anyone who can obtain this wonderful book to buy it for himself as a crown for his head because it contains the words of the living G-d. The merit of the holy author will protect anyone who buys this book, and he will have blessing and success and longevity and all good things.” The author Rabbi Avraham Abba [Avli] of Drohobych (1760-1835 [according to Alfasi]), a hidden tzadik who concealed his holiness by working as a teacher in Drohobych. One of the foremost disciples of the Chozeh of Lublin. Author of this book that was printed many years after his death because of the restrictions of the sensor or because of a lack of funds – as written in one of the approbations. We can see the greatness of the author from the approbations to the book that were written by the greatest rabbis of the time. On the title page: “A holy man of G-d throughout his life, concealed his ways and no-one knew about them, and before he went back to Heaven our teacher from Lublin praised him publicly. His holy name is Rabbi Avraham Avli, a teacher from Drohobych.” The rebbe of Shinova writes in his approbation that the Chozeh of Lublin revealed that “There is a holy person here, his name is Avli, who can save those in need of salvation, and then a miracle revealed that this is the person…” See more at length in the approbations.
