Lot 232:
A letter on an official letterhead, in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Avraham Zev HaLevi Poksheva, Rabbi of Union City New Jersey. Dated 11th Elul 1931. To the Chayei Olam yeshiva in Jerusalem. He enclosed a check for 3 dollars with the letter and asked they pray for him at the graves of righteous people and for his daughter “who has reached marriage age and I have no appropriate match for her, in other words that he observes Shabbat properly, and this type of person cannot be found in America”. At the time one who wished to observe Shabbat in America faced great challenges, and could find themselves without food on the table. In the letter before us we see an important Rabbi whose sole desire is to find his daughter a husband who is Shabbat-observant. | Fold marks. Filing holes. 28×22 cm. | Overall condition: Good.
