A large sheet folded into two leaves. On the first: a long and well-reasoned ruling regarding unmovable property. Signed by Rabbi Mordechai from Uman [who is Rabbi Mordechai Zilberman, Rabbi of Safed, who was previously Av Beit Din of Uman] and Rabbi Moshe Marodman. On the second leaf are the words: "A decision from the court R’ Feivel…". | Rabbi Mordechai Zilberman – ‘Reb Motte Dayan’ [1819-1872] the chief rabbi of the Askenazi congregation of Safed. He was born in Uman in the Ukraine. According to tradition, his ancestors lived in Safed during the time of the Ari and later emigrated to Uman. He used to sit in solitude and study Torah in the study hall above the grave of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Meron. He was the emissary of the Rebbes of Boyan in lighting the Lag B’Omer bonfire in Meron and even passed this right down to his sons who succeeded him as rabbi of Safed. | Fold marks.
