A printed letter on an official letterhead, with four lines at the end in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Binyamin Mendelsohn Av Beit Din of Komemiyut from the date Kislev 1953 to the Va’adHaYeshivot regarding an Avrech who studied Torah in Moshav Komemiyut day and night. He requests an exemption from the army for him even though he does not study in a formal yeshiva "because what difference does it make if he studies here or in Jerusalem". | Rabbi Binyamin Mendelsohn: 1904-1979, born to his father Rabbi Menachem Mendel Mendelsohn one of the rabbis of Plotsk in Poland and an Aleksander chassid. In 1934 he immigrated to Israel under the influence of the Rebbe the Imrei Emmet of Gur, was appointed as Rabbi of Kfar Ata and later – at the recommendation of the ChazonIsh – as rabbi of the ultra-orthodox Komemiyut settlement, where he was very involved in keepingshemitta without compromises. He was arrested and charged in the case of the kidnapping of the child Yossele Schumacher and the leading Rabbis of the time worked for his release. |22×13 cm. Fold marks.
