Sassoon’s compliments.” The Sassoon family was a famous aristocratic family from Baghdad, which received the nickname “The Rothschilds of the East” because of their wealth, which was calculated to be in the billions, and their expansive philanthropic work. Their family manuscript collection is known widely, and it was defined as one of the largest private Jewish manuscript collections in the world at the time, and included many cultural Jewish treasures.
