On the cover is an illustration from Jeremiah’s prophecy on the End of Days: “and a wolf will dwell with a sheep.” The books includes the structure of the language, the table of letters, the way words are created, and analysis and corrections to errors. Published by HaTikva, printed by Moriah, Jerusalem. Rabbi Professor Ezra Zion Melamed (1904-1994) wrote books on linguistics, Talmud, and translation. He won the Israel Prize for Literature. Esperanto was a Jewish language invented in 1887 by Eliezer Ludwig Zamenhof, whose goal was to turn it into everyone’s second language around the world, alongside his/her mother tongue. Esperanto is today the highest spoken language among invented languages. The dictionary was designed for “Jews who knew their own language and wanted to study an international language.” Soft binding with repairs using tape. 87, XVII pages. 15cm. Generally good condition.
