Sefer ‘Pe’er HaDor’ – Shu”t HaRambam, Amsterdam, 1770. Published from the Rambam’s manuscript, by Rabbi Mordechai Tamah, grandson of Rabbi Eliezer Nachum author of Chazon Nachum. The Rambam responds to questions on all parts of the Torah, as well to questions about things written in his book the Yad Chazaka. Many ownership signatures and stamps at the beginning of the book and throughout, as well as the inscriptions: “Goel Acharon Yaakov Chai Zarihan of the Ohel Yaakov Beit Midrash” and “Bought with money in honor of my Creator, Chaim Yosef Maman”. Rabbi Chaim Yosef Maman, grandson of Rabbi Rafael of Safed [1858-1925]. One of the sages of Tiberius, travelled as an emissary to Morocco and was later appointed as Rabbi of various cities in Algeria and Morocco. In 1912, he printed the books ‘Kol Raychayim’ and ‘Mishmarot HaChaim’ – about the dispute about grinding wheat in machines for Pesach. Several of his responsa appear in the book ‘Toafot Re’em’ by Rabbi Rafael Ankoa. He returned to Tiberius in 1914. He left a responsa and a book of homilies in manuscript form. Rabbi Yaakov Chai Zarihan [1869-1953] – Av Beit Din of Tiberius. Author of the books Bechorei Yaakov, Ohel Yaakov, Chelek Yaakov, Shufriyah D’Yaakov, Torat Yaakov. Served as Rabbi and Av Beit Din of Tiberius, a position he held until his death. He opposed Zionism and was known for his Zealous views, he consistently refused to accept any Rabbinic position from the National Committee despite the many requests of Rabbi Ben Zion Chai Uziel, the Rishon L’Zion. He was one of the first to sign on the poster forbidding girls to be enlisted into the army. 14, [1] 56 leaves, 25 cm. Partially detached cardboard binding. Aging stains. Moth signs.
