Sefer Ketubah which is one part of the Sefer Hafala’ah. Novaelle on tractate Ketubot and the laws of Ketubah, by Rabbi Pinchas HaLevi Ish Horowitz. The author was the primary disciple of Rabbi Dov Ber, the Maggid of Mezeritch, (from who he learnt together with his brother Rabbi Shmleke of Nickelsburg), Av Beit Din of Frankfurt am Main, and Rabbi of the Chatam Sofer. He was known by the name of his book as the Ba’al HaHafla’ah. Lvov, 1816. On the title page is an ownership stamp (with a picture of an eagle) Rabbi “Moshe Aryeh Leib Alter son of Yonah Av Beit Din of Bacau” in Hebrew and Latin script. Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Leib Alter Baharav (1810-1873), one of the foremost Rabbis of Moldavia, Av Beit Din of Botosani, and later of Bacau. He corresponded in responsa with the Malbim. It is told that he was born due to a blessing which his father received from the Rebbe Rabbi Chaim of Czernowitz, who blessed him that in the merit of redeeming prisoners which he was involved in, he would have a son who will be a great Torah scholar. (Lemberg 1876). 36 cm. (5) 168 leaves. Without a binding, moth damage with slight damage to the text on the title page and the first and last leaves. Stains. Fair overall condition.
