Lot 357:
Long letter, around 16 lines handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Shimon Shkap, head of the Grodna yeshiva. Good condition. He lieved 1860-1940, at age 12 he began to learn in the Mir yeshiva, and when he was 14 years old he moved to the Volozhin yeshiva, with a small group of students who studied with Rav Haim Soloveitchik. In 1920 he was called upon by Rav Haim Ozer Grodzinsky to be head of the Sha’ar HaTorah yeshiva in Grodna, where he served around twenty years. In 1928 he published the first section of his great book Sha’arei Yosher, and over the years additional sections of the book were published, and were later selflessly saved in the USSR, studied dutifully in the yeshivot.
