Esepecially thick book of songs from 1881. Author was a leader and sage from D’Mar, in central Yemen, from a famous family of rabbis. Until now there are two copies known of his handwriting, one is the Three Megillot, and the second is Divan Shirot (like this). The book before us says “written for his friends, Yehuda HaLevi and his brother, by Yosef ben Said Al-Gridi, 1881. He appears in the Encyclopedia of Yemenite Sages, p. 73. The content of the songs was not checked thoroughly, could be previously unknown poems not in other known manuscripts. 504 pages, the last 6 pages have one long poem on various places in Yemen—Ta’az, Sana’a, Damar, and more. Size: 30.5×10.5cm, moth damage, generally ok to good condition. From a private collection.
