From Kislev, 1845, groom Shmaya ben Rabbi Daniel Engel, with the bride, “daughter of Rav Rishon LeZiyyon Haim Avraham Gagin.” Ketuba, written, illustrated, and colored with many colors, with decorations of cypress trees, pomegranates, plants and flowers. Given in a frame. Size: 64x47cm. Signs of folding, stains, and wear, generally ok to good condition. Rabbi Haim Avraham Gagin (also called: Agan), livd in 1787-11848, “HaKhacham B’Ashi,” the first official in Israel. Head of the Beit El kabbalistic yeshiva in Jerusalem, son-in-law of the Rosh Yeshiva before him, Rabbi Refael Avraham Shalom Mizrahi Sharavi. Witnesses signatures: Refael Avraham(?), Rabbi Haim Moshe Pizanti (a Jerusalem sage and a member of the Beit El yeshiva), signed with Rav Gagin in other places, known mainly for his travels with the Rosh Sharavi, who saved the minister Haim Perachi from torture in Damascus.
