Known book of Rav Meir ben Rabbi Tzvi Margaliot, Av Beit Din of the Galil and Lviv and Ostra (1700-1790), one of the first and greatest students of the Ba’al Shem Tov. First section—Q&A. He succeeded in becoming close to the Ba’al Shem Tov in his youth, 11 years of age, one year with his older brother, Rabbi Yitzhak Dov, before his discovery (the Ba’al Shem Tov them was a helper to the teacher in the village is Kashilevitz). He connected spiritually with the Rav and turned into his closest student, as he tells in his book Sod Yachin u’Bo’ez: “From my youth from the day I was chosen to be close in love with my teacher, my friend, the rabbi and chassid the Ba’al Shem Tov.” This book’s endorsements are missing in this copy, the book is known for the amazing endorsements from all of the great chassidic sages, led by the compiler’s friend Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berdichov, who nicknamed him “Rosh Golat Ariel.” An additional endorsement is by the Admor Reb Zusha of Anipoli, who requested that “anyone for whom the awe of God has touched his heart, should try to buy the holy books of the Gaon HaChassid Meir.” Another is by the “Ohev Yisrael,” Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Aphtha, when he was Av Beit Din of Kaslov. Other endorsements by the Kabbalist Rabbi Asher Zvi of Ostra and his chevruta in Ostra. The compiler compiled many other texts but this is his most famous and because of it he is nicknamed Meir Netivim. Stefanski Chassidut 313. The copy before us is meant to complete other copies. Missing the cover, there is an introductory page, after that it is missing pages until p. 5. Some of the pages are bound out of order and the order of pages is messed up. Much moth damage, at the bottom of the pages is heavy damage to the text, stains from moisture, generally awful condition.
