Lot 507:
Two letters entirely handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Pinhas Hirschprung, first letter sent to the committee in Montreal, from 1945. Additional signature of “Eli Hazan,” the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Hazan (1906-1982), head of the “Torah v’Da’at” yeshiva in New York. Second letter for help and assistance for a poor person from the Holy Land. From 1957. The Gaon HaRav Pinhas Hirschprung, one of the Haredi sages of Canada, was a student of the Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin at the Khochmei Lublin yeshiva, friend of the Admor HaRav Yaakov Leizer of Pshevorsk and the Admor Rav Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam. In his youth, the Maharam Shapira testified that he knew 2200 pages of Gemara by heart, he was appointed examiner of students for the yeshiva. He was certified for the Rabbinate by the Meracheshet, he survived the travails of the Shoah and settled in Canada. Died in 1998. Excellent condition, different sizes to the letters.
