Lot 428:
Page is cut, a section (the last section with signatures) has a psak din that was released from the court of Rabbeinu Haim Pinto, signed by him personally. The Kabbalist Haim Pinto was one of the grandest characters to decorate Moroccan Jewry, he was born in Essaouira (Mojdor) to his father, Rabbi Shlomo Pinto, who was himself famous for genious and tzaddikut. He was holy, appreciated by all the Jews of Morocco, and stories of his wondrous deeds abound. He died in his old age in 1845 and was buried in his city. His burial site became a place of pilgrimage for Moroccan Jewry, who would pour out their thoughts at his grave. He signed many psakei din, printed in the books of the sages of Morocco. In addition, there is the signature of the Dayan Rabbi Yaakov ben Elazar HaKohen, a member of Rabbi Pinto’s court. The page, as stated, is cut and is missing its upper portion, before us is some of the psak din with the signatures. Bound in new binding.
