Lot 425:
Framed certificate, to a donor of Yesodei HaTorah and Beit Yaakov in Antwerp, signed by Gaon Rav Haim Kraizvurt (1920-2002). He was rabbi of the Makhzikei HaDat community in Antwerp for around fifty years. He was known for his genius of Torah and his amazing memory, he knew the whole Talmud by heart, in his youth he studied at the Khochmei Lublin yeshiva and was called “HaIlu’i from Krakow.” These are some things written of him by Rabbi Avraham Dover Kahane Shapira in his letter when Kraizvurt was only 20 years old “from the Diaspora, one of the sages of Torah who have arrived to us from Poland is a young man, around 22 years old, a great prodigy, amazing genius, knows all of the Shas by heart and most of the sefarim of the Rishonim and Achronim, and he gives wonderful chiddushim, and is also a nice, pleasant man, polite, modest, on the one hand a young man, on the other a great gaon.” Good condition.
