Letter sent by Gaon HaRav Aharon HaCohen, son of the Chafetz Haim, by the businessman Reb David Potsch to the Chazon Ish, HaRav Avraham Ishayahu Carlitz, in which he approaches with worry and requests to know the whereabouts and fates of rabbis: Elhanan Wasserman, and the son-in-law of the Chafetz Haim, HaRav Hillel Ginsburg, and more. With the occupation by the Nazis of Poland, Elhanan Wasserman disappeared with his yeshiva to Vilna, where they went then to Troky. When the Soviets took over Lithuania in 1940, they moved on to Similishok. After atrocities by the Soviets he was forced to escape with some of his students to Kovna, and the yeshiva remained under the supervision of HARav David Rapaport. There hope was to immigrate to a free country. On the other side of the letter the Chazon Ish wrote 10 names for blessing. A singular, historic letter from a difficult period during the Second World War. Very good condition. Signs of folding (light).
