Lot 371:
“Khavat Da’at,” on the Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De’ah, by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov of Lisa, ba’al haNetivot HaMishpat, Lemberg 1855. On the title page is a long note in his handwriting, with large signature of the Beit Midrash Menahem Tziyyon. Rabbi Zundel was one of the students of Rabbi Haim of Volozhin, and spread the Gra’s teachings to generations. Founder of the mussar movement, rabbi of Rabbi Yisrael Salant, moved to Jerusalem in 1838, head of the Prushim. Because of his humility, he refused to take on an official role, but he served as Gabbay of the Menahem Tziyon Beit Midrash library next to the Hurva, that was a center of prayer and study. Ok to good condition, moth damage in the margins.
