(10) 233 (1) page (Winograd Venice 15). 10 pages of index are found in this ccopy that aren’t included in Winograd, but were in Friedberg 2093. First edition—very scarcely found. Foundational stories of the halacha, from the Rishonim, mentioned many times in the book of Maran HaBeit Yosef. On the title page are two cursive signatures of the Gaon Rav Yedidya Shlomo Yisrael, son of Rabbi Eliyahu Yisrael ba’al HaKol Eliyahu—in his youth he studied Torah with two luminaries, he was cousins with Rabbi Moshe Yisrael and Rabbi Yonatan Galanti. In 1812 he was accepted as the rabbi of Alexandria in Egypt and led the community for around 20 years until his death in 1831. He was eulogized in the books of the geonim of his generation, and he left a work of drashot (“Ben Yishay”) unprinted. There is an additional signature on the last page of the index—the “young Shlomo Perachi” On the key there are dozens of additions in Mizrahi handwriting from previous generations. Most pages of the book are in excellent condition, in this condition it is especially rare. Pages are colorfully cut. There are a number of defects on the first pages and moth damage on a number of pages that are professionally restored without damage to the text. Stains. Thick, quality pages. Bound in nice, new leather. 23cm.
